Her story

A nest she's happy to share

Ruth has spent the last seven years welcoming guests to Seal Rock, earning Superhost status and a 4.86 average rating across more than 440 reviews. She loves to travel and make friends wherever she goes, and believes a little hospitality can change someone's whole trip for the better.

Faith and family come first for Ruth, and she tries to extend the same warmth to guests that she'd want shown to the people she loves. You'll usually find her gardening here on the coast, or back home in Texas once winter sets in.

She named this little cluster of homes Hatton Haven — her nest here at Seal Rock — and built each property to feel less like a rental and more like an invitation into that nest.

Why Seal Rock

Hatton Haven sits on a quiet residential stretch between Highway 101 and the Pacific, with some of the most pristine, least-crowded tide pools on the Oregon coast just steps away. Seals are a regular sight on the rocks and in the water most mornings.

Newport and Waldport are a short drive for restaurants and bakeries, and Seal Rock itself has a handful of local artist studios and craft shops worth a stop. Miles of sandy beach run south toward Alsea Bay — plenty of room for clamming, crabbing, and beachcombing for agates and driftwood.

A note from Ruth

"I appreciate the special things people do for me when I am away, and I want to do those same things for guests who come to Hatton Haven."
